The hoops are a classic and elegant design reminiscent of Celtic spiral symbols.
 
The hoop has no fastening, just twist sideways to open and close. No hooks or scrolls to catch in clothing, yet they sit very securely.
Please note that they are slightly thicker than standard ear wires to make them more sturdy and hold their shape for longer (0.9mm vs 0.7-0.8). That's gage 19.
I made them with sterling silver wire, polished them, oxidised them to bring out the detail in the spiral, then polished them a final time.
The spiral symbol can represent the path leading from outer consciousness (materialism, external awareness, ego, outward perception) to the inner soul (enlightenment, unseen essence, nirvana, cosmic awareness). The symbol has been a favourite of many ancient tribes and people.
