"She reached the top of the hill and lay down. The tall grass all around her sheltered her and she slid into a day dream she used to have when she was a little girl. In it she talked a hawk down from the sky."
The softest silk ribbon wrap bracelet with a decorated copper clasp. I have created the clasp by hand from recycled copper in metal clay form. After firing the slide is pure copper.
The texture is an impression from grasses in my nearby park. I think it looks like a golden corn field - an ancient symbol of abundance and wealth. The copper clasp is slightly curved to follow your wrist. It has been oxidized to bring out the pattern of grass straws impressed all over the surface.
The back is smooth with two loops for the ribbon secured with tiny rounds bearing my maker's mark.
The ribbon ties easily, just knot it and tuck in the ends. The ribbon goes around the wrist 5-6 times. The hand dyed silk can be hand washed with a bit of soap and even ironed for a smoother look. The ribbon pictured I call "Gatekeeper" after the butterfly in beautiful warm brown and orange colours.
* Copper focal measures about 27 mm by 35 mm ( 1 by 1 3/8 inches).
* Hand dyed, hand sewn silk is about 105 cm long.
